How long have you been coaching, and why did you start?
I've been coaching baseball for over 15 years, and I'm on my last group of kids with our youngest. My fondest memories as a kid were all related to baseball, and I wanted to recreate that experience for kids in the valley. Baseball teaches kids about hard work, discipline, brotherhood, and fun.
As these kids get older, it will also keep them out of trouble, because they have something important in their life.
Currently, we have a tight knit team, and we get together for non-baseball team-building activities throughout the year. Many of the kids play together outside of games and practices, and I have no doubt that they will all become lifelong friends.
If you're a parent considering joining one of the teams, I encourage you to put down your phones and enjoy these moments with your little ones, because soon they will be grown and you'll miss out. Having fun and developing players is my number one priority. We like to win, but not at the expense of fun.
I look forward to meeting you at one of our tryouts for our 10U and older teams in the future.
